Welcome to the colony. Jabrat is an 18+ community. These rules keep the Pantry stocked, the traders honest, and the Plague Rats out. Read them once now — Smart Rats Check First.
The Punishment System
Nips (infractions). When a rat breaks a minor rule, they get a Nip. Nips expire after 1 month.
- 5 active Nips → 3 days in the Trap (temporary ban)
- 7 active Nips → 7 days in the Trap
Major rules carry harsher punishment that varies by offence: longer stints in the Trap, a SNIFF FIRST or PLAGUE RAT rank, and in rare cases, permanent Extermination. Repeat offences carry progressively more severe punishment.
SNIFF FIRST is an amber rank displayed on a rat's profile and posts, warning other rats to use caution when dealing with them.
PLAGUE RAT is a red rank displayed on a rat's profile and posts. It also locks the rat out of the Pantry and other colony features.
If a rat commits any unconscionable act not explicitly covered by the rules, or has repeatedly broken rules, the Rat Kings (staff) reserve the right to punish that rat in any way they see fit.
Minor Rules — Nips
Spamming. Short, unhelpful posts; free bumps on other rats' threads; posting to inflate your post count. Creating multiple threads advertising the same thing, or multiple threads in the same Pantry section (unless permitted), also counts. Excessive AI-generated posting counts as spam too — we can smell it.
Flaming, Harassment, Trolling. Excessive profanity, insults, or derogatory comments at another rat. Deceiving members or Rat Kings for fun or drama. Posting purely to provoke a negative reaction.
Excessive Bumping. No double posting or bumping a thread within 4 hours of your last post in that thread.
Bogus Posting or Bumping. All posts and bumps in the Pantry must relate to real trades. Don't bump your sales thread if you're not genuinely ready to trade, or purely to farm post count. Punished as false advertising.
Accusing a Rat of Scamming Without Proof. Posting scam accusations on someone's thread without proper proof (chat logs alone do not count). To report a scammer, use the Report a Rat section. Genuine negative feedback about a bad experience — with proof, and without a scam accusation — is allowed on a relevant Pantry thread.
Begging. Asking to receive anything for free. Rats forage; they don't beg.
Thread Hijacking. Offering your goods or services on another rat's sales thread.
Selling What's Free. You may not sell anything on Jabrat that can be found freely elsewhere (protocols, calculators, publicly available guides, etc.).
Playing Doctor. Presenting medical advice as fact, diagnosing other rats, or promising health outcomes. This is a research community — share sources, not prescriptions.
Signature Violations. Maximum 350px tall and 650px wide, including all text, quotes, and pictures.
Referrals. Referral links belong in your signature or user title only. Nowhere else.
Grave Digging. If a thread has been dead for weeks or months, let it rest — except in Fresh Droppings and other exempt sections.
Requiring Vouches. You may not promise or require a vouch as a condition of trade. No rat is ever obligated to vouch for anyone.
Exploiting Site Glitches. Blank posting and other glitch abuse is not allowed; punishment is case by case. Unicode blank posts in Fresh Droppings are the only exemption.
Porn / Gore. Pictures, videos, or links to porn or extreme gore are not permitted. The Rat Kings decide what qualifies. Repeat offences may bring additional punishment.
Circumventing Staff Decisions or Wasting Staff Time. Ignoring Rat King orders, recreating locked or deleted threads, evading censors, etc. Case by case.
Screamer / Shock Links. Misleading links to screamer or shock sites are prohibited.
False or Misleading Advertising. Your Pantry threads must accurately reflect your actual prices, stock, and offers, updated promptly. Advertising an offer significantly different from reality is false advertising. If you claim "X vouches," you must be able to count them on your actual vouch thread. If you claim a batch is third-party tested, the test report must exist and be linked — claiming tests you don't have is false advertising of the worst smell. Threads in a given Pantry section must primarily pertain to that section; irrelevant adverts stuffed into the thread body are punishable under this rule. This rule exists for legitimate customer complaints — you may not report direct market competition under it.
Copyright Infringement. No direct links to files that infringe copyright. Indirect links are not covered by this rule.
Ignoring Section Stickies. Every section has its own sticky rules. Failure to follow them earns a Nip.
Posting on Behalf of Exterminated Rats. Strictly prohibited.
Major Rules — The Trap and Worse
SNIFF FIRST Evasion. Using another account to dodge your SNIFF FIRST rank: all accounts involved get 1 week in the Trap plus SNIFF FIRST. Subsequent offences: permanent PLAGUE RAT on all accounts.
Trading While PLAGUE RAT. Attempting to trade on Jabrat or the official Discord while carrying the PLAGUE RAT rank: 1 week in the Trap. Only the Plague Rat is punished. You also may not middleman a trade for a Plague Rat.
Bribing the Rat Kings. In any way. 1 week in the Trap. They cannot be bought with cheese.
Advertising Rival Trading Platforms. A trading platform is any Discord/forum/group with open trading channels where anyone may advertise. Advertising one here: 1 week in the Trap. A Discord with closed trading channels (only the owner or their workers advertise) is permitted.
Autobumping. Automated bump tools are banned; manual-assist tools are fine. 1 week in the Trap.
Self / Fake Vouching. Faking, stealing, or passing off illegitimate vouches as legitimate: 2 weeks in the Trap plus SNIFF FIRST. Subsequent offences: permanent PLAGUE RAT. Off-site vouches are not honoured on Jabrat but may be listed in the body of your thread only.
Multi-Account Interaction / Account Sharing. You're strongly advised to keep one account. If you create more, they must never interact: 2 weeks in the Trap. Using a secondary account solely to bump your own threads is permitted (normal bump rules apply). Account sharing is not allowed, though a business may have its own distinct Jabrat account.
Plagiarism. Stealing websites, ToS, Discord servers, or other significant content (not trivial things like thread titles): 1 month in the Trap.
Doxxing. Posting another rat's private emails, socials, address, phone number, photos, or other personal information without explicit consent: 1 month in the Trap plus PLAGUE RAT. This applies even if the information is publicly available or was previously posted by its owner. Doxxing a Rat King or their close acquaintance: 6 months in the Trap, 6-month Fresh Droppings ban, and PLAGUE RAT.
Snitching to Processors and Platforms. Contacting payment processors, banks, hosting providers, or platforms to burn another rat's accounts: 1 month in the Trap plus SNIFF FIRST.
Scamming. Scamming, attempting to scam, or any suspicious trade behaviour: temporary Trap based on severity, plus PLAGUE RAT. This includes knowingly selling bunk, underdosed, or misrepresented product; forging or doctoring test reports or CoAs; impersonating other rats or members of other communities, on-site or off-site; and name sniping.
Malicious Off-Site Activity. If you've committed offences elsewhere that would earn a ban or PLAGUE RAT here, the Rat Kings may treat them as an indicator of your character and PLAGUE RAT you on Jabrat.
Ban Evasion. Return after Extermination on a new account and that account is Exterminated too. Frequent evasion earns an IP ban. Evading a temporary Trap results in both accounts trapped for the remainder of your sentence plus an additional week.
Selling Your Jabrat Account. 3 months in the Trap plus PLAGUE RAT.
Blackhat / Malicious Tools. Using software for deceptive, malicious, or harmful purposes affecting Jabrat rats, directly or indirectly: temporary Trap plus PLAGUE RAT.
Bypassing the One-Thread-Per-Section Limit. One thread per Pantry section per rat, unless otherwise specified. Circumventing this: 1 month in the Trap, PLAGUE RAT in severe cases.
Prohibited Goods. No controlled substances. No finished pharmaceutical products. No sales or offers directed at minors — that one is instant, permanent Extermination. All listings are research-use-only; market threads containing human-use dosing claims, treatment claims, or medical promises will be removed and punished under this rule. Severity is case by case, up to permanent Extermination.
Additional Notes & Clauses
Businesses / Partnerships. Running a business means implicitly sharing responsibility for co-owners' actions, and for workers while on shift acting for the business. If a partner or worker scams, all owners are trapped until the debt is repaid; workers are liable only for their own actions. Company-owned accounts require all owners/directors to either have never held a Jabrat account or hold one in good standing. A Plague Rat may work for a business as an employee, provided they have no outstanding debt on Jabrat.
Section Rules. Individual Pantry and non-Pantry sections carry their own rules in each section's sticky. Follow them.
Banned Associations. Exterminated and Plague Rats may not have posts made on their behalf in the Pantry, nor hold any stake in or ownership over a business, service, or product advertised on Jabrat. Punishment scales with severity.
Shared IPs. If an Exterminated account shares your IP and a significant connection is found, your accounts may go with it. Interaction between same-IP accounts may get all of them trapped.
Hacked Accounts. If your account (Jabrat or otherwise) is hacked and used to scam, your Jabrat account will be trapped. Reimburse all scammed rats before the Rat Kings will consider release.
Competitions. Cheating in or manipulating competitions: 1-month competition ban, automatic disqualification, and the "BANNED FROM THE RAT RACE" user title.
Vendor Thread Requirements. All Pantry sales threads must prominently display: (1) research-use-only status, (2) whether third-party testing exists for the current batch — with the report linked if claimed, and (3) an explicit refund and reship policy that the buyer has read and agreed to in writing before the trade proceeds. Failure to comply may result in disputes being awarded automatically to buyers.
Anti-Scamming. Baiting or anti-scamming without a Rat King's approval will be punished.
Confirmation PMs. You may receive SNIFF FIRST for sending a poor confirmation PM missing important details such as Discord Unique IDs — even if no scam results. You may also receive SNIFF FIRST for generally poor trading practices.
Batch Honesty. Lying about the origin, testing status, or contents of product you are selling results in PLAGUE RAT.
Cryptocurrency. Fees must be confirmed before the trade. If fees weren't discussed and a transaction sits unconfirmed for an extended time, the customer is owed the difference if the coin's value drops — the inverse does not apply. In the absence of fee discussion, the maximum confirmation time is 2 hours; you are responsible for the difference beyond that.
Interpretation. All rules must be interpreted by the Rat Kings before they can be enforced. Where the application of a rule isn't obvious, staff will make a best effort by drawing from precedent. In rare cases where no rule fits, a new rule may be established by precedent. If you believe a rule was applied incorrectly, you may appeal in the dispute forum — but upper staff are not obliged to accept, and a previously failed appeal may be dismissed summarily.
The colony survives because the colony self-polices. Sniff first. Trade clean. Don't be a Plague Rat.
